On May 2, 2023 77% of voters in the Winton Woods City School District voted AGAINST a proposed 6.21 Mill additional levy that would have yielded $3.5 Million per year to operate the schools in the district. The FOR voters numbered 2,121; the AGAINST 649.
This was the sixth failure since November, 2020, prior to which, in 2016, a 6.0 Bond Issue passed for purposes of constructing new K-6 and 7-12 schools to replace four K-3 elementaries, a Grade 4-6 Intermediate, a Grade 7&8 Middle and a Grade 9-12 High School—all of which were outdated and prohibitively costly to renovate. Both new schools were finished being built and holding classes as of April, 2022.
As of this date, in addition, three of the four elementaries have been razed, the intermediate is in the process of being re-purposed as the Early Childhood Central Campus, the Middle School has been replaced by the new K-6 school and the district’s Middle and High Schools have been combined on the site of the former Forest Park High School.
